Are There Any Items That Cannot Be Moved?
Yes, there are several items that cannot be moved in our vans for safety reasons. Items such as: Aerosols, Flammables, Cleaning Agents, Combustibles, Perishables, Plants, Ammunition, Paints, Cars, Animals, Motorcycles, Propane Tanks. There are also many items which cannot be moved for the customer's protection. These are items you should plan to take with you because they cannot be claimed as lost or damaged. They fall in the following categories: Jewelry, Coin or Stamp Collections, Stock Certificates, Rare Items, Currency, Important Documents. Your relocation consultant can provide you with a more comprehensive list. Always remember to take with you items you will need such as airline tickets, papers for school enrollment, home closings etc. We suggest you set aside a special carton for these items and mark it "Do Not Load".
Can Clothes And Other Items Be Left Inside The Furniture During The Move?
A AND B MOVING recommends that all clothes and items be removed from inside the furniture. This includes all desks, dressers, armoires...etc. This makes the furniture much lighter and easier to move. It also limits wear and tear to your furniture during the move. Generally the only items of furniture that can be safely moved with items still in them are small light pieces of furniture containing very light belongings inside (sweaters, pillows). Be careful NOT to leave fragile items and anything that might leak.
Can I Move My Pet?
Pets cannot be carried on the truck. Dogs, cats, canaries and parakeets can usually be transported in the family car. If this isn't convenient, one of our professional moving consultants will be glad to suggest alternate ways to ship your pets safely.
Can I Pack My China, Glass & Crystal?
Most people prefer to have their household possessions, especially fragile items, professionally packed by a moving company. However, if you decide to pack these items yourself, remember that the basic principles of good packing include wrapping the items individually, providing plenty of cushioning and making sure of a firm pack. Be sure to select a sturdy container with a lid. Place a 2 or 3 inch layer of crushed paper on the bottom of the carton as a cushion. Wrap each item individually with a soft material to provide a safe, protective "padded nest." Pack the heaviest items on the bottom, empty ones next, filling in empty spaces with crushed paper. Place plates on edge and glassware on rims for maximum protection. Mark the carton "Fragile" and list the contents on the outside. Be sure to seal the carton with tape. Cartons, paper, tape and other packing materials may be purchased for a very modest cost.
Can I Move Jewelry And Other Valuables?
Items of extraordinary value such as jewelry, money and stamp collections cannot be included in your shipment. Universe Express strongly recommends that you carry irreplaceable and expensive articles with you, or make other arrangements for their transport.
Can My Possessions Be Stored Temporarily?
Yes, this normally happens when you have not been able to take possession of your new home. A AND B MOVING will store your belongings in the warehouse until your home becomes available. Additional charges may apply. Speak to your relocation consultant for more information.
Can You Move Plants?
It is against the law to transport plants across state lines. On local moves Federal Regulations allow a mover to transport plants if the trip is fewer than 15 miles. However, A AND B MOVING cannot guarantee their safety. In general, A AND B MOVING recommends that you make arrangements to transport your plants.
Can We Help The Movers?
For insurance reasons, customers are not allowed on the truck, so the best way to help is to be prepared beforehand. Have all your packing done, boxes labeled, etc. This will allow our crew to do their job efficiently and safely.
Do I Tip The Movers?
Like all other service businesses, tipping is not required. A tip is a reward for a job well done. If your movers did a good job, a tip is very much appreciated.
Do Movers Disassemble Beds Or Any Other Furniture?
Yes, the movers will disassemble beds and bed frames with the exception of waterbeds (these require special servicing). They will also disassemble any other items that need to be taken apart for safe transportation. The movers will reassemble these items at destination. Items you disassemble at origin will be your responsibility to reassemble at destination. Movers/packers will not remove items that are affixed to walls or ceilings (i.e. drapery tracks) due to the possibility of property damage.
Do You Charge For Packing Materials?
Any materials that are requested or used by your moving team (boxes, packing paper, tape, etc) will be charged additionally.
Do You Charge Extra For Moving Large Items Such As Pianos?

Does My Homeowner’s Policy Cover My Items For A Move?
Most homeowner’s policies do not provide coverage. Call your company to see if they can supply you with coverage for a special premium. Make sure the policy includes coverage while your goods are in the movers’ possession, and not just while the movers are in your residence.
How Do I Select The Right Mover?
A reputable, good mover should have an established place of business, license and insurance. It is not wise to use a mover who is new to the business. They may not know what they're doing, or they may be a fly-by-night who were doing business under another name last month and will be doing business yet with another name next month, staying one step ahead of the law. You want a mover who has been in business for a while, who knows the business. You should ask your mover to supply you with a few references. A satisfied customer is the best sales tool for a mover.

Should I Be Present During The Loading Of My Furniture?
Yes, you should definitely oversee the loading of your furniture and should not leave during the loading process. Examine the mover's description of your furniture on the inventory and initial for any chipped or marred items. Do an inventory of your goods against the mover's list and make certain that all the furniture and boxes that you are taking are on the list.
